New evidence indicates that the risk of prostate cancer may be reduced by adding certain vegetables to one's diet. Cholesterol drugs may not reduce prostate cancer (Reuters via Yahoo! News)
A class of cholesterol-lowering drugs called statins, which include frequently prescribed drugs such as Lipitor and Zocor, do not lower levels of the sex hormone testosterone in men, and are therefore unlikely to affect the risk of prostate cancer, which is closely linked to this male hormone. Among men with good sexual function before treatment with low-dose brachytherapy for prostate cancer, erectile function is likely to remain good over the long term, according to a report in the medical journal BJU International.
